Southeast Bank sponsor director Azimuddin Ahmed dies
Southeast Bank PLC. is deeply saddened by the loss of our Honourable Sponsor Director and Former Chairman, Azim Uddin Ahmed, who passed away on 1 August 2025 (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).
The Board of Directors, management, and all employees extend heartfelt condolences and warm sympathy to his beloved family during this difficult time.
Born on June 30, 1940, into a respected Muslim family, Azim Uddin Ahmed was a distinguished business leader and philanthropist. He served as Chairman of the Board's Risk Management Committee. He made significant contributions during his tenure as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
He was the Chairman of Mutual Group and AD Holdings Limited. He also served as Director and former Chairman of Arla Foods Bangladesh Limited. Beyond his corporate engagements, he was a founding life member and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of North South University. He also held the same status with the North-South University Foundation.
Mr Ahmed was widely respected for his commitment to education and social welfare. In his home district of Feni, he established several institutions, including a mosque. He supported numerous philanthropic causes. He was always guided by a spirit of generosity and a commitment to community service.
His passing leaves a profound void in the banking sector and in the hearts of those who knew him throughout the business and social communities of Bangladesh.
May Allah grant him eternal peace and bring comfort and strength to his family and loved ones as they navigate this great loss.
