Nation mourns former secretary and Eisenhower fellow Latiful Bari
Mr K.G.M. Latiful Bari, a distinguished former CSP official and Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, passed away on Tuesday at Square Hospitals, Dhaka (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He was 92.
Born on 7 August 1933, Mr Bari led a long and exemplary life devoted to public service. An Eisenhower Fellow, he was widely respected for his leadership, integrity and intellectual curiosity. During his illustrious career, he made notable contributions to the country's administrative history, including editing the Bangladesh District Gazetteers for Jessore and Bogra in 1979 — key reference works documenting regional heritage and geography.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr Bari was admired for his passion for travel, which reflected his inquisitive mind and broad worldview.
Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of East West University and a former CSP official, expressed deep sorrow at his passing, saying the nation has lost a dedicated public servant and a person of high moral character.
