Exiled poet Daud Haider is no more
He breathed his last around 1:45am this morning while undergoing treatment at a senior care centre in Berlin

Exiled Bangladeshi poet Daud Haider passed away in Germany early today (27 April) at the age of 73.
He breathed his last around 1:45am (Bangladesh Times) while undergoing treatment at a senior care centre in Berlin, reports media quoting family members.
Daud Haider was suffering from various health complications for some time now. He sustained a head injury after falling on the staircase of his Berlin residence in December 2024.
He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after that incident. He was later released from the hospital but couldn't return to a healthy life.
Born on 21 February 1952, Daud Haider was described as a "distinguished poet" by the American Center and International PEN. He was forced into exile after writing a poem that "insulted" religion, including Islam.
