No restrictions from govt on Tarique Rahman's return to Bangladesh: CA press secy
In a Facebook post, the press secretary wrote, “There are no restrictions or objections from the government in this matter.”
The interim government has no objections regarding BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman's return to Bangladesh, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said today (29 November).
In a Facebook post, the press secretary wrote, "There are no restrictions or objections from the government in this matter."
He made the clarification in response to Tarique Rahman's remarks that the decision to return home is not entirely within his control at the moment.
Shafiqul also noted that Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and has sought prayers from the nation.
Earlier today, in a Facebook post, Tarique said that despite his strong desire to return to Bangladesh and be beside his critically ill mother, the decision is not entirely his to make.
"The BNP chairperson and former prime minister remains in a critical state under intensive care and the entire nation, beyond political lines, has been praying for her recovery," he added.
He also noted that the chief adviser has promised full medical support, while local and foreign doctors continue to provide the highest level of professional and sincere care.
