No force can thwart 12 Feb polls: Amir Khasru
Replying to a query during a post-meeting media briefing, Amir Khasru said there would be no space in the party for dissident candidates who might contest the polls in violation of party decisions.
BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today said no force would be able to thwart the much-awaited 12 February national election, as people are determined to reclaim their long-deprived voting rights.
He said enthusiastic citizens, who were deprived of their voting rights for the last 17 years, are eagerly waiting to cast their ballots in a free, credible and participatory election scheduled for 12 February.
"No quarter or force can stop this hard-earned democratic right," Amir Khasru said while exchanging views with party leaders and workers yesterday (12 December) evening.

The BNP-nominated candidate for the Chattogram-10 (Pahartali-Doublemooring) constituency, held the meeting with leaders and activists of Sulakbahar Ward as part of his election campaign and to review poll preparations. The meeting was held at his Mehedibagh residence in the city.
"We have no time to waste as people's aspirations are high. With Allah's will, we will be able to meet the expectations of the countrymen," he said, adding that BNP has prudent leadership and long experience to ensure overall national progress.
Strongly condemning the attempted killing of Inqilab Manch spokeperson and Dhaka-8 constituency aspirant Sharif Osman Hadi, Amir Khasru said the incident was part of a continuous conspiracy to foil the upcoming election.
"Such conspiracies may continue, but the people of the country will unitedly resist them. The election will be held on 12 February," he asserted.

He added that BNP believes in liberal democracy and is not a cadre-based party. "There are differences of opinion and protests within the party, but at the end of the day we remain united," he said.
City unit BNP Joint Secretary Kazi Belal, executive committee members Kamrul Islam and Mamunul Islam Humayun, Sulakbahar ward BNP leaders Shamsul Alam and Shayesta Ullah Chowdhury, Ashraf Chowdhury, Golam Kader Chowdhury Nobel, city unit member secretary of Swechasebak Dal Engineer Jamir Uddin Nahid, among others, were present at the meeting.
