No corruption in flood relief distribution: Khosru
The minister stated that during the initial stage of the floods, the government carried out all necessary emergency work
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has said no corruption took place in the distribution of relief following the recent floods.
The transparency of the post-flood relief operations is a major success for the government, he said at the opening ceremony of HSBC's Tk10 crore humanitarian assistance project for the sustainable rehabilitation of flood-affected people at the Chattogram Circuit House today (30 August).
The minister stated that rehabilitation and recovery efforts are being conducted through partnerships with the private sector and development organisations, which he noted helps reduce corruption, irregularities and waste.

He added that the presence of oversight and "watchdog" mechanisms within the delivery system makes it possible to reduce corruption and the misuse of public funds.
Khosru added that the government's initiatives, including the Family Card programme, have not been politicised and will remain free of political influence.
Implemented with funding from HSBC and in collaboration with BRAC, the seven-month disaster management programme will cover approximately 12,000 affected families across Ward 38 of Chattogram City Corporation, as well as Satkania, Banshkhali and Chakaria.
The event was attended by Chattogram Divisional Commissioner, Ziauddin; Deputy Commissioner, Zahidul Islam Miah; Bangladesh Bank Director (Chattogram Office), Swarup Kumar Chowdhury and HSBC Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer, Md Mahbub ur Rahman.
