New murder case filed against Hasina, Quader in Bogura

A new murder case has been filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former minister of Road, Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader in Bogura.

The complaint was lodged by Tahmina Begum, wife of deceased rickshaw driver Komor Uddin. The case also names 82 other individuals and 250 to 300 unnamed individuals as accused.

Tahmina Begum filed the case with Bogura Sadar Police Station this morning (20 August).

This new case brings the total number of cases against Hasina and Quader in Bogura to two. The first case, filed on 16 August, was related to the murder of school teacher Selim Reza.

Komor Uddin, who lived in Chak Akashtara village, was killed on 4 August during a student protest on Nawabbari Road in Bogura city.

Tahmina Begum alleged that during the protest, Hasina and Quader ordered others to throw crude bombs. As the crowd panicked, her husband was attacked with crude bombs and suffered severe injuries.

Komor Uddin was initially taken to a nearby hospital but was later transferred to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Bogura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saihan Oliullah confirmed the registration of the case, saying, "The case was officially registered this morning following the complaint by the deceased's wife."

The accused include prominent figures such as Mujibur Rahman Majnu, president of the Bogura district Awami League, along with other local leaders.
