Amid the ongoing political unrest in Nepal, a Bangladeshi family fell victim to an attack and looting allegedly by protesters on Tuesday (9 September).
The incident took place when a group of protesters were vandalising a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, where this family of three were staying.
In a separate incident, when the Bangladeshi ambassador was on his way to assist the national football team stranded in Nepal, his car came under attack, officials at the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu confirmed the matter.

A related news report was shared on the Bangladesh Embassy's Facebook page today (11 September).
Regarding the attack on the family, officials said protesters beat them up and looted their belongings.
In panic, the family first tried to hide their passports, but later the protesters entered the hotel room and looted those as well.
The hotel authorities provided them with first aid and arranged accommodation at another hotel, but the family, out of fear, refused to stay there.
They were later taken to the embassy. After providing primary treatment, they were given shelter at the ambassador's residence.
During Tuesday's protest, there was an arson attack on the five-star hotel and another hotel was vandalised as well.

According to embassy sources, so far a total of 30 Bangladeshis have been rescued amid the ongoing crisis.
Of them, 10 were brought from the international airport and 20 from different parts of Kathmandu. Those rescued were identified as passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
All Bangladeshi nationals in Nepal have been advised to stay safe in hotels or their homes.

At the same time, the government has advised Bangladeshis planning to travel to Nepal to postpone their plans until further notice due to ongoing security concerns.
