Nearly 9 lakh law enforcers to be deployed during polls: Home adviser
25,000 body cameras and 418 drones will be used, he says
Some 8,97,117 members of law enforcement agencies will be deployed during the national election to ensure security, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said today (19 January).
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat, he also said the government will deploy 25,000 body-worn cameras and 418 surveillance drones to strengthen security during polls.
In addition, CCTV cameras will be installed at all 42,761 polling stations, with preparations already underway, he said.
Besides, the adviser said, the government has identified 8,780 polling centres as highly risky.
The 13th parliamentary election will be held on 12 February.
