Nearly 78,500 prisoners to enjoy special Eid meals, events across country

The Department of Prisons is preparing special meals and events for nearly 78,500 inmates, including convicts and detainees, across the country for Eid-ul-Fitr.

Additional Inspector General of Prisons Md Jahangir Kabir said prisoners will receive a variety of special foods on Eid.
Prisons may adjust some items using government allocations, and many facilities provide soft drinks in addition to the set menu.
Prisoners can also enjoy food prepared by relatives. Eid prayers will be held in prisons, and cultural and sports events will be organised for entertainment.
Inmates will have a five-minute opportunity to speak with their relatives by phone.
After Eid prayers, a cultural programme will feature performances by inmate artists. A friendly football match will be organised among selected prisoners the day after Eid.
Moreover, during the three-day Eid holiday, relatives can visit prisoners once.
