NCP activists lock Munshiganj AL office a day after reopening
Yesterday, a video related to the reopening of the activity-banned party’s office in Birtara union of Srinagar, Munshiganj spread on social media.
Leaders and activists of the National Citizen Party (NCP) locked an Awami League office at Birtala union in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj today (22 February), just a day after it was reopened.
According to witnesses, NCP leaders and activists, along with members of its affiliated organisations, gathered in front of the office and chanted various slogans before putting a lock on the gate.
Mohammad Ali Newaz, chief coordinator of NCP in Sirajdikhan who took part in the programme, said a video of the office reopening went viral yesterday (21 February). "We informed the OC and the UNO about the matter. The video was spread in a way that suggested a return, but in reality, it was nothing. They gathered a few children and chanted slogans, this is Awami League politics."
"We do not want their return to Bangladesh or Munshiganj before justice is served for the 1,400 killings," he said.

In the 38-second video, slogans were heard inside the office where photos of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina were hung.
Police said the person chanting slogans was identified as Sabbir, general secretary of Birtara union Awami League.
Regarding the reopening of the Awami League office, Sreenagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Jewel Mia said it could not be confirmed when the incident took place.
"An investigation is underway. It was a shuttered shop room, and Sabbir, who is involved in the incident, has been absconding for a long time," he said.
