Mirza Fakhrul expected to lead Ministry of LGRD and Cooperatives
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the newly elected MP from Thakurgaon-1 (Sadar) in the 13th National Parliament election, is likely to get the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives in Tarique's cabinet.
He took oath as an MP today (February 17), with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin administering the oath to the newly elected lawmakers.
When contacted, Mirza Fakhrul told The Business Standard, "I don't know yet what responsibility I will be assigned. I cannot comment on it at the moment. Hopefully, I will find out by this evening."
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been elected from Thakurgaon-1, defeating Jamaat-e-Islami's Delawar Hossain with 238,836 votes to 141,017, according to Returning Officer Esrat Farzana on 13 February.
