Mirpur fire: NCP demands trial of owners, officials of chemical warehouse, garment factory
The protest programme was held at Mirpur-10 intersection in Dhaka this afternoon.

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has staged a protest today (15 October) demanding justice for the deaths of 16 people in yesterday's fire at an illegal chemical warehouse and a garment factory in MIrpur's Rupnagar, as well as compensation for the victims' families.
The protest programme was held at Mirpur-10 intersection in Dhaka this afternoon.
Addressing the gathering, NCP Senior Joint Convener and head of the party's political liaison committee, Ariful Islam Adib, placed three demands: arrest and trial of the owners of the illegal chemical warehouse and the garment factory; Tk1 crore in compensation for each victim's family; and immediate removal of all chemical warehouses from residential areas in Dhaka North.
He also said the negligence of government officials tasked with monitoring these areas — including those from the labour and industries ministries — must be investigated and brought under accountability.
Speakers at the protest blamed government indifference for the tragedy and renewed calls for the removal of all illegal chemical warehouses and garment factories from residential neighbourhoods.
