Mild heat wave sweeping over country

A mild heat wave is sweeping over eight divisions and the districts of Rangamati and Brahmanbaria and it may continue.

"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Rangamati, Feni and Brahmanbaria and it may continue," said a met office forecast for the next 24 hours begin from 9am today.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country.

The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to the North Bay. The monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over the North Bay. 

A low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay and adjoining area during the next 72 hours.

The country's maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 38.03 degree Celsius at Sylhet district while today's minimum temperature 24.8 degree Celsius was recorded at Bandarban district.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 15 millimeters (mm) at Rangamati district.
