Over 50 lakh aspiring migrants have registered on the Ami Probashi app to seek overseas employment, according to information released today (5 February).
"The aspiring migrants can register on our platform by specifying their skill sets, preferred destinations, and desired jobs. Recruiting agencies can then select suitable workers through our app," said M Tanvir Siddiqui, head of Innovation at BanglaTrac Group, the company behind Ami Probashi, at an event held at a city hotel.
He said at least 1,500 recruiting agencies are connected to their platform for hiring workers.
According to the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), Bangladesh sent over 10 lakh workers abroad last year.
Ami Probashi operates an advanced recruitment management system that links millions of aspiring migrant workers with potential employers.
Through the platform and app, users can be easily selected, interviewed online, and directly communicated with.
The app hosts a diverse pool of skilled migrants seeking legitimate job opportunities while avoiding the high costs often associated with middlemen in the recruitment process.
Stakeholders have long called for a database and recruitment system to streamline the migration process, reduce fraud, and lower costs.
Currently, many Bangladeshi migrant workers incur high expenses for low-wage jobs abroad due to bureaucratic hurdles, middlemen, and recruiting agencies.
Launched in mid-2020, the Ami Probashi app seeks to address these challenges by providing innovative technological solutions in partnership with the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and the BMET.
