2 vehicles catch fire in Ramna, Uttara; officials rule out sabotage
No casualties have been reported.
Two vehicles, including a police vehicle, caught fire this morning (12 November) in Dhaka's Ramna and Uttara, neither of which officials attributed to sabotage.
The police vehicle fire broke out suddenly during maintenance work, confirmed Golam Faruq, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramna Model Police Station.
The fire started when the battery terminals accidentally short-circuited during repair work, he said, adding that it was later brought under control.
No casualties were reported in the incident, and the OC said the fire was caused by a mechanic's error.
Meanwhile, a microbus went up in flames on Jasimuddin Road in Uttara in the capital at around 7:20am.
Rafi Al Faruk, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, said the blaze likely originated from an overheated engine, adding that no casualties have been reported.
Two fire service units brought the blaze under control shortly afterwards.
