Md Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury promoted as executive director of Bangladesh Bank
A seasoned central banker with nearly 32 years of experience, Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury joined Bangladesh Bank in 1993
Md Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury has been promoted to the post of Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, effective from 20 July 2025.
Prior to this promotion, he was serving as the director of the central bank's Credit Guarantee Department.
According to a circular, his promotion will be effective as per the conditions laid out in the Bangladesh Bank 9th Grade and Above Officers' Promotion Policy, 2022.

A seasoned central banker with nearly 32 years of experience, Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury joined Bangladesh Bank in 1993. Over the course of his long career, he has served in various departments across multiple offices of the central bank.
In the Chattogram office, he worked in the Foreign Exchange Policy Department, Administration Department, Banking Department and SME and Special Programme Department, while also serving at the Sylhet office of Bangladesh Bank.
At the head office, he has held key roles in the Foreign Exchange Inspection Department, Debt Management Department, Department of Financial Institutions and Markets, Grihayan Tohobil, Bangladesh Bank Training Academy and Credit Guarantee Department.
Following his promotion, Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury has been attached to the central bank's head office in Dhaka.
