The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) has elected Maria Howlader as the new president and Md Johirul Islam as the new vice president of the Institute.

They will take over the charges of respective offices today (1 January) and work for the Institute for a period as per CA Order- 1973 (President's Order No-2 of 1973), a press release published by ICAB said.

Maria is the managing partner and founder of Howlader Maria & Co.(HmAC) Chartered Accountants (Member Firm of KRESTON Global).

She is also serving as the secretary general to the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) and as board director of it for two consecutive terms, covering 2022 & 2024 and 2024-2026.

Md Johirul Islam is the partner of A Qasem & Co. Chartered Accountants, Member firm of Ecovis International. He was a vice president of ICAB in 2024.

Johirul completed his LLB from Chittagong Law College under The University of Chittagong and has been practicing Tax and Corporate Law for more than 30 years, the press release said.
