Madrasah teacher held for allegedly raping minor student in Ctg

A madrasah teacher was detained by the army and handed over to the police yesterday (20 June) on charges of repeatedly raping a 10-year-old student in Satkania upazila of Chattogram.
The accused, Kayem Uddin Rabbi (18), son of Md Yunus from Ichamatirkul area in Ward-8 of Satkania municipality, is a teacher at Habibia Talimul Quran Madrasah in Ward-9's Asheker Para.
According to police, Rabbi allegedly raped the minor approximately five to six times. The victim was reportedly threatened with death and other forms of intimidation to prevent him from disclosing the abuse.
Frightened by the threats, the minor initially did not confide in his mother. Unable to endure the ordeal, he eventually revealed the incidents to her. The mother reported the matter to the army camp located inside Sattkania Government College, near the madrasah.
Captain Md Shamim Parvez, in-charge of the army camp in Sattkania, stated that the army promptly apprehended Rabbi and handed him over to Satkania Police Station for legal action.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused admitted to the crime and confessed to similar acts with several other students in the past, he said.
Sattkania Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Zahedul Islam confirmed that the victim's mother filed a case as the plaintiff and the accused will be produced in court today.
