LPG price for March fixed at Tk111.74 per kg; 12kg cylinder remains Tk1,341
The retail price of autogas has been adjusted to Tk61.83 per litre, including VAT
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has adjusted the retail price of private liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for March 2026 based on the Saudi CP for the month.
According to a press release issued yesterday (2 March), the retail price of private LPG, including VAT, has been set at Tk111.74 per kg. However, the price of a 12kg cylinder at the retailer level has been kept unchanged at Tk1,341.
The commission said the adjustment was made in line with its order dated 12 April 2021 (BERC Order No. 2021/01), issued following a High Court directive on 25 August 2020 in Writ Petition No 13683/2016 and under Sections 22(b) and 34 of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003. Since then, private LPG prices have been adjusted monthly in line with Saudi CP.
For March 2026, Saudi Aramco declared the CP for propane at $545.00 per metric tonne and butane at $540.00 per metric tonne. The average Saudi CP has been calculated at $541.75 per metric tonne, considering an average exchange rate of Tk122.47 per US dollar.
In addition to the 12kg cylinder, the commission has adjusted the prices of 5.5kg, 12.5kg, 15kg, 16kg, 18kg, 20kg, 22kg, 25kg, 30kg, 33kg, 35kg and 45kg cylinders.
For LPG supplied in liquid form through a reticulated system, the price including VAT has been fixed at Tk107.99 per kg. For LPG supplied in gaseous form through a reticulated system, the consumer price, including VAT, has been set at Tk0.2399 per litre or Tk239.90 per cubic metre.
The retail price of autogas has been adjusted to Tk61.83 per litre, including VAT.
Meanwhile, as per BERC Order No 2026/06 issued on 23 February 2026, the price of state-run LPG at the dealer/retailer level will remain unchanged at Tk776.93 for a 12.50kg cylinder, including VAT.
The latest order (BERC Order No. 2026/07) regarding the adjustment of private LPG prices based on Saudi CP will come into effect from 6pm on 2 March 2026.
The commission has directed that LPG — both bottled and supplied through a reticulated system — and autogas must not be sold at any stage, including storage, bottling, distribution and retail, above the price fixed by BERC.
Other directives issued under BERC Order No 2021/07 dated 10 October 2021 will remain unchanged.
Details of the revised consumer prices for private LPG and autogas are available on the commission's website.
