Libya backs Bangladesh’s candidate for 81st UN General Assembly presidency

Libya has expressed support for Bangladesh's candidate Khalilur Rahman for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for the 2026–2027 term.
The support was conveyed during a courtesy meeting between Libyan Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulmutalib SM Suliman and the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, this afternoon (5 March).
During the meeting, the Libyan envoy expressed his country's full support for Khalilur Rahman, who has been nominated by Bangladesh as its candidate for the presidency of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
Humayun Kabir thanked the Libyan government for its support and expressed appreciation for the gesture.
He also expressed hope that Libya's backing for Bangladesh's candidacy in the international arena would further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
