Lawyer Alif murder: Victim’s father cross-examined; hearing resumes 29 Apr
No lawyer appeared in court on behalf of Chinmoy Krishna Das
Lawyers for 25 accused in the murder case of Chattogram-based lawyer Saiful Islam Alif cross-examined the victim's father today (8 April), with the court setting 29 April for the continuation of the cross-examination.
The proceedings began at 11am at the Chattogram Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal. A total of 24 arrested accused were produced before the court from jail, while another accused, Chinmoy Krishna Das, also known as Chandan Kumar Dhar, appeared virtually from prison.
The complainant in the case and father of the victim, Jamal Uddin, was present in court. Although he had earlier given his testimony, cross-examination by the defence had remained pending.

Mohammad Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury, assistant public prosecutor of the Chattogram Metropolitan Court, confirmed the development to The Business Standard, saying the court had fixed 29 April for the next phase of cross-examination.
However, no lawyer appeared in court on behalf of Chinmoy Krishna Das. When asked by the court, he sought time, saying he would consult with his lawyer and inform the court later.
Previously, his counsel, Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya, had taken time on three occasions during hearings.
According to the case information, there are a total of 39 accused in the case, of whom 25 have been arrested, while 14 remain absconding.
