Dismissed DGFI official Manjil Haider remanded in July Uprising killing case
Police arrested Manjil from a house in Mohakhali DOHS in the capital yesterday.
A Dhaka court today (10 April) placed dismissed Major Manjil Haider Chowdhury, a former official of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), on a four-day remand in a case filed over the killing of hawker Abdul Wadud during the July Uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order as the police produced him before the court and pleaded to place him on a seven-day remand in the case.
Earlier, police arrested Manjil from a house in Mohakhali DOHS in the capital yesterday (9 April).
According to the case documents, Wadud was shot and killed in the Nilkhet area under New Market Police Station on 19 July 2024. His brother-in-law, Abdur Rob, filed the case against 130 persons, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
