Do not block roads and create public nuisance: IGP

While warning of strict actions, the IGP said, “Legal actions will be taken if anyone is involved in vandalising factories through spreading rumours. In no way can the roads be blocked, which creates public nuisance. I hope factory authorities and locals will help the police to maintain a peaceful atmosphere at the factories"

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has urged the workers to refrain from blocking roads and hampering people's Eid celebrations while raising their demands.

"The industrial, district and city units of police are working tirelessly so that people can go to their homes during the Eid vacation," the IGP said during a views exchange meeting with reporters at the office of Gazipur Industrial Police-2 at Mogorkhal area in Bhogra Bypass under Gazipur city this morning (13 March).

While warning of strict actions, the IGP said, "Legal actions will be taken if anyone is involved in vandalising factories through spreading rumours. In no way can the roads be blocked, which creates public nuisance. I hope factory authorities and locals will help the police to maintain a peaceful atmosphere at the factories."

"Everyone has rights over salaries and bonuses during Eid. We always warn those factory authorities who try to dilly-dally with salaries and bonuses. However, workers take to the streets suddenly and put barriers on people's movement. Don't do this please," the IGP added.

Additional Superintendent of Industrial Police Sibgatullah presided over the meeting, while some other senior police officials were present there.
