Landmine blast near Alikadam border kills Myanmar national, injures Bangladeshi

A Bangladeshi national was injured and a Myanmar citizen was killed in a landmine explosion along the zero line of the Poyamuhuri border in Alikadam upazila of Bandarban, according to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The incident occurred around 10am today (14 October) at the zero line near Kurukpata union's Poyamuhuri border area, said Lt Col Kazi Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, commanding officer of BGB's 30 Battalion based in Ramu, Cox's Bazar, in a press release.
The deceased was identified as Menthang (40), son of Tanglai, from Natunpura village in Myanmar's Rakhine State. The injured, Mangsar Mro (30), is the son of Shangwan Mro from Gorjonpara village in Alikdam upazila of Bandarban.
Lt Col Kazi Mahtab Uddin said that the explosion occurred on the Myanmar side, west of Border Pillar No 55, in an area known as Htaungmangpara, while the two men were visiting a jhum field.
"Menthang, a Myanmar national, died on the spot, while Mangsar Mro, a Bangladeshi citizen, sustained injuries. He was brought back to Bangladesh and is currently being taken to hospital for treatment," the BGB official said.
The body of the deceased remains at the site on the Myanmar side, he added.
