Land Ministry lodges complaint against two fraudsters

The land ministry lodged a complaint against 2 fraudsters at Paltan Model Police Station on Wednesday.

The ministry lodged the complaint against a Lalmonirhat resident known as "Ukil Roy" and "Sayem Hossain" for allegedly scamming people by taking money from them with the assurance of providing them jobs at the ministry.

In light of a report that aired in a private television channel on July 12 titled "Fake appointment through signature forgery", Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury directed the ministry officials to verify the incident.

The report claimed that Sayem Hossain, who claimed that he was the personnel officer of the land secretary, and Ukil Roy, a so-called teacher and a resident of Lalmonirhat, charged money from people with the assurance of providing them jobs at the land ministry.

Ukil Roy also forged the signature of the land secretary and provided fake appointment letters to the people from whom he took the money.

In accordance with the directives provided by the minister, Land Secretary Md Moksudur Rahman Patwary instructed the concerned branch to look into the matter.

Later, preliminary evidence of fraud was found and the complaint was lodged.

It should be noted that no recruitment activities have been undertaken by the ministry for more than two years for posts such as computer operator and other such positions. No appointments were made through outsourcing as well.

The land ministry also said that it has no involvement with Sayem Hossain and that he is not an employee of the ministry.

The land ministry thinks that the individual named Sayem Hossain is a thug and forger and he must be brought to justice.

The ministry said that the individual named Ukil Roy, who forged the signature of the land secretary and issued fake appointment letters, has committed a serious and punishable crime and must be brought to justice as well.

The Ministry calls on the citizens to immediately inform the law enforcement agencies if anyone demands money from them with the assurance of providing employment in the Ministry of Land or offices/agencies under the land ministry's jurisdiction.

The ministry sincerely requests all concerned to be careful and not to be conned by fake appointments.
