Khulna City Medical Hospital fire brought under control after 2.5hrs

A fire that broke out at Khulna City Medical College and Hospital in Khulna city's Moylapara intersection has been brought under control after 2.5 hours.
Twelve fire service units worked to bring the blaze under control around 12:15am today (12 June), confirmed Masud Sardar, deputy director of the Khulna Fire Service.
Masud said the fire was confined to the basement and did not spread to the upper floors.
He added that there was no information on any casualties so far and the cause of the fire had not yet been determined.
Patients of the fire-hit hospital are being transferred to nearby hospitals.
Dr Gazi Mizan, chairman of the neighbouring Gazi Medical College Hospital, said, "A total of 100 patients have already been transferred from City Medical College Hospital and admitted to our facility. All of these patients will receive free treatment at our hospital."
Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB), police personnel, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar, and local residents are assisting firefighters at the scene, according to Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station.
According to the Fire Service media cell, authorities received the first report of the fire at 9:40pm. Units from Khulna Sadar Fire Station were immediately dispatched to the scene and started firefighting operations upon arrival.
Initially, five units from the Khulna Sadar Fire Station were deployed. Considering the scale of the incident, six additional units were later sent to assist. According to the latest update, a total of 12 Fire Service units were working to contain the fire.
Witnesses said smoke was first seen coming from the generator room on the ground floor of the 16-storey hospital. News of the fire quickly spread, triggering panic among patients, attendants and nearby residents.
