Khaleda Zia never abandoned the nation even in crisis: Rizvi
He accused former prime minister Sheikh Hasina of leading a vindictive conspiracy against Khaleda Zia, saying the state was used to persecute opponents.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that Begum Khaleda Zia remains the enduring source of inspiration for the party.
"So many illnesses and hardships! Yet even amid such crises, she never abandoned this party, this country, this soil. She never stepped back. It is such a profound source of pride for us—that we had a leader like her," said the BNP leader while speaking at a prayer event organised by the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal today (26 November) at BNP's Nayapaltan headquarters.
He accused former prime minister Sheikh Hasina of leading a vindictive conspiracy against Khaleda Zia, saying the state was used to persecute opponents.
Rizvi praised Khaleda Zia's steadfastness while accusing Sheikh Hasina of fleeing the country and questioning reports of 832 bhori of gold recovered from Agrani Bank vaults allegedly linked to her, saying no such gold was ever found in Khaleda's accounts.
Rizvi slammed the interim government's economic performance, citing World Bank's warnings that 6 crore people risk falling into poverty and 3 crore already live below it, saying this is unacceptable to the public.
Rizvi stressed the importance of February's pre-Ramadan national election, saying the government must ensure a free, fair, and neutral process so people can choose their own leadership.
