Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will attend the reception as the chief guest
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will attend the Armed Forces Day reception at Senakunja on Friday afternoon (21 November).
The BNP chief is scheduled to leave her Gulshan residence for Senakunja around 3pm, said BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan.
He said Khaleda's medical board allowed her to join the reception after assessing her health condition.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and members of the party's Standing Committee are also expected to attend the event.
Shairul said invitations were formally sent earlier by the Armed Forces Division, under the office of the chief adviser, to the BNP chairperson, the party Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the secretary general and other senior leaders on the occasion of Armed Forces Day.
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus will attend the reception as the chief guest.
Armed Forces Day is being observed today with various programmes, marking the formation of Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force during the 1971 Liberation War.
Khaleda Zia made her first appearance at the Armed Forces Day reception at Senakunja in 12 years on the same day last year.
The 81-year-old former prime minister has long been suffering from several serious health problems, including liver cirrhosis, and complications related to her heart, lungs, kidneys and eyes.
