July fighters to get 36% discount at BPC hotels, special Biman fares

July fighters will receive a 36% discount at hotels run by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC), while the government will arrange special fares on Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets for them, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam said yesterday (11 August).

She made the announcement at a reception organised by BPC at Parjatan Bhaban in Agargaon to honour families of those killed and fighters injured during the July uprising, marking July Mass Uprising Day 2026.

"To make 36 July memorable, a 36% discount will be provided to July fighters at the hotels of the Tourism Corporation," the minister said.

She added that arrangements would also be made to provide special discounts on tickets of Biman Bangladesh Airlines for July fighters.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat said July fighters would be given free entry to tourist attractions under the ministry.

The government will also take initiatives to provide employment opportunities to July fighters in organisations under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, he said.

The announcements came as BPC honoured family members of five July fighters who were killed and five injured fighters at the event. The minister and other senior officials handed over prize bonds and commemorative crests to the recipients.

Afroza said the sacrifices of those killed and injured in the July uprising should not be remembered merely through formal ceremonies, but should inspire efforts to build a humane, non-discriminatory and dignified Bangladesh.

She also stressed making the tourism sector more inclusive, people-friendly, safe and sustainable, while strengthening its contribution to economic growth and employment generation.

Planning State Minister Zunaid Abdur Rahim Saki and Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Secretary Fahmida Akhter attended the programme, chaired by BPC Chairman Md Shamimuzzaman.
