Jamaat's dialogue with consensus commission resumes with focus on unfinished reform agenda
The party gave in-principle support to forming a National Constitutional Council (NCC) and agreed with the proposal to limit an individual to no more than two terms as prime minister

The second phase of talks between Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and the National Consensus Commission resumed at 11am today (18 May) in the LED Hall of the National Parliament.
Jamaat's delegation at the dialogue is being led by Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher. The party is expected to brief the media following the conclusion of the meeting.
This round of dialogue is part of the Commission's ongoing efforts to build a national consensus around the recommendations of five reform commissions.
As part of this initiative, the Commission has been holding a series of meetings with major political parties.
The initial meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami was held on 26 April, during which discussions were largely centred on the proposals submitted by the Constitutional Reform Commission.
At that session, Jamaat expressed support for establishing a bicameral parliament and backed proportional representation in both the upper and lower houses.
The party also gave in-principle support to forming a National Constitutional Council (NCC) and agreed with the proposal to limit an individual to no more than two terms as prime minister.
Today's meeting is expected to continue the unfinished discussions and work toward a broader political consensus on national reforms.
