Jamaat pledges 13 measures, including 'Digital Paharadar' app, to curb extortion if elected
According to the post, the party plans to adopt strict, technology-driven measures to eliminate extortion in sectors ranging from road and transport to land and real estate.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has pledged to implement 13 measures, including the launch of a digital platform – Digital Paharadar - to curb extortion across key sectors if it comes to power.
The commitments were outlined in a Facebook post containing five photo cards published today (23 January) on the party's verified Facebook page, where Jamaat reiterated its pledge to turn Bangladesh into an extortion-free state.
According to the post, the party plans to adopt strict, technology-driven measures to eliminate extortion in sectors ranging from road and transport to land and real estate.
It said that, with Allah's will and the people's votes, extortion would be eradicated from all sectors through modern technology and firm legal action.
To prevent extortion in the road and transport sector, the party said CCTV monitoring would be introduced on extortion-prone roads, while direct surveillance at all police outposts and checkpoints would be strengthened, it said.
The post also added that swift investigations and immediate punitive action would be taken upon receiving complaints.
Jamaat also pledged to form an independent and politically neutral monitoring cell for the road and transport sector, alongside public awareness programmes to deter extortion.
In the land and real estate sector, the party said it would introduce systems for online payment of fees and taxes and ensure digital access to land records and other necessary documents to prevent extortion during land transactions. Prompt legal action would be taken if allegations arise, it said.
The party further announced plans to launch an app and website named 'Digital Paharadar' to receive and resolve extortion-related complaints. Complaints would be verified and a report issued within 24 hours, while ensuring the safety and protection of complainants.
Extortionists would be publicly identified and subjected to exemplary punishment to create public awareness through visible legal action, Jamaat said, adding that the use of modern technology, strict enforcement of laws and active public participation could help transform Bangladesh into an extortion-free state.
