IOM donates bus to school for children with disabilities
The UN migration agency had earlier given 50 wheelchairs to Arunodoy School for children with special needs in Cox’s Bazar
The UN's International Organization for Migration (IOM) has donated a 30-seater coaster bus to a specialised school for children with disabilities in Cox's Bazar.
The handover event took place at Arunoday School premises on Saturday, where hundreds of students with disabilities along with their teachers attended.
State Minister for the Public Administration Farhad Hossain was the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner Md Kamal Hossain chaired the event.

"The Bangladeshi government is grateful to IOM for its continuous support for persons with disabilities in Cox's Bazar and we would be glad if they could also extend this kind of aid in other districts," said Farhad Hossain.
According to the government statistics, Cox's Bazar has 28,000 persons with disabilities.
Arunodoy School – the first of its kind to open its door to 700 students, among whom 500 are children with special needs and 200 are street children – aims to help the students enter mainstream education system.
Public Administration Secretary Shaikh Yusuf Harun, Deputy Chief of the IOM mission Manuel Pereira and its national liaison officer BM Masiur Rahman were present, among others.
"IOM sees this initiative as a landmark and we hope with it more children will have the opportunity to access education and adequate specialised care," said Manuel Pereira.
