Int'l news agency Pressenza launches Dhaka bureau, adds Bangla service
The agency's expansion to Dhaka adds Bangla to its list of published languages, making its global news accessible to Bangla readers
Pressenza International Press Agency, an international news organisation, officially began its operations in Bangladesh today (27 October) with the inauguration of its Dhaka Bureau office. The launch event was held at the Shafiqul Kabir Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
The agency's expansion to Dhaka adds Bangla to its list of published languages, making its global news accessible to Bangla readers.
Muhammad Abdullah, managing director of Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust, was present as the chief guest. He welcomed the agency, acknowledging the current media landscape.
"We are currently walking a path toward a new Bangladesh. The news media was already facing various challenges, and social media has further complicated those challenges," Abdullah said.
"I hope Pressenza will set a new example in objective and responsible journalism."
Mainul Hasan Sohel, executive editor of Pressenza's Dhaka Bureau and DRU general secretary, confirmed the immediate commencement of operations.
