Interim govt declares Khaleda Zia a VVIP, plans for possible treatment abroad
According to the statement, the government reviewed Khaleda’s current medical condition and decided to ensure uninterrupted treatment at the hospital, while also preparing a plan to take her abroad for advanced medical care if necessary
The interim government has announced a series of decisions regarding the medical care and security of BNP Chairperson and three-time former prime minister Khaleda Zia, following a special meeting of the Advisory Council at the State Guest House Jamuna today (2 December).
The meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser (CA) Muhammad Yunus, began with prayers seeking the early recovery of Khaleda. The council also called upon the nation to pray for her well-being.
Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud shared the development by reading out a statement at a briefing in front of Jamuna. Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul and CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam were also present.
According to the statement, the government reviewed Khaleda's current medical condition and decided to ensure uninterrupted treatment at the hospital, while also preparing a plan to take her abroad for advanced medical care if necessary.
It further decided to formally declare Khaleda Zia a "Very Very Important Person (VVIP)", considering her "high status", and instructed all relevant agencies to implement the decision immediately, including measures for her security and transport.
Her family and party have been informed of these decisions.
