The interim government has created 86,277 jobs under various ministries during its first 100 days in office, said Youth and Sports Secretary Md Rezaul Maksud Jahedi today.

"Among them, 2,468 jobs were in the revenue sector, while 83,809 jobs were created in project sectors, including self-employment and entrepreneurship initiatives," he said at a press conference organised to present the progress of the 100-day activities.

At the event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Jahedi explained that the new jobs were created in both the revenue and project sectors under ministries such as public administration, labour and employment, information and communication technology, youth and sports, and women and children affairs.

The secretary also said, under the Department of Youth, the government has set a target to provide institutional and non-institutional training to 264,080 job-seeking youth for employment in both public and private sectors, as well as for self-employment, during the fiscal year 2024–2025.

He added that, as part of traffic management and social awareness initiatives, training courses have been launched for seven batches, targeting a total of 2,100 participants.

"Of these, 710 individuals have already completed training. Among them, 231 have been appointed as assistant traffic police, and the recruitment process for the rest is ongoing," he said.

He also revealed that the interim government, which assumed office on 8 with Professor Muhammad Yunus as the head, aims to create five lakh jobs over the next two years.
