Indian drugs, smuggled goods worth Tk18.38 lakh seized in Kushtia border raids
BGB recovers Indian cough syrup, tablets and leaf cigarettes in two separate raids; no one arrested.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian drugs and smuggled goods worth Tk18,38,725 in two separate raids along the Kushtia border last night (3 September).
The seizures were made in the Sheoratala field under the Kajipur Border Outpost (BOP) and the Akandpara field under the Char Chilmari BOP. No one was arrested in the raids, according to the BGB sources.
Acting on a tip-off, a BGB patrol team conducted a raid in the Sheoratala field at around 10:30pm and recovered 48 bottles of Indian Fairdil syrup and 4,000 dexamethasone tablets.

The estimated seizure value of the recovered drugs was Tk12,19,200, according to BGB.
Later, at around 11:50pm, BGB conducted another raid in the Akandpara field and recovered 990 Indian dexamethasone tablets, 1,010 cyproheptadine tablets and 355 packets of leaf cigarettes.
The estimated seizure value of the goods recovered in the second raid was Tk6,19,525, BGB said.
Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) said it was carrying out regular raids based on tip-offs and special drives to prevent drug smuggling, illegal crossings and other border crimes.
The force also said such operations would continue to ensure border security and curb border crimes.
