Independence Day: People from all walks of life salute Liberation War heroes
Today, the country honours those supreme sacrifices made during the war and continues its journey of rebuilding and reforming following the July uprising.

The National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar became a focal point of reverence and remembrance on Independence Day today (26 March), as people from all walks of life—including political parties, student organisations, and cultural and social groups—gathered to honour the valiant martyrs of the Liberation War.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus paid tribute this morning to the valiant martyrs of the Liberation War as Bangladesh celebrates 54 years of independence.

Afterwards, they observed a moment of solemn silence in memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the great Liberation War of 1971.
Following their departure, the memorial was opened for people from all walks of life to pay their respects.

Senior BNP leaders, including Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, and Aman Ullah Aman, were present during the party's tribute at the memorial.
Leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP), including the party's Convener Nahid Islam, also honoured the martyrs by placing a wreath at the altar.

Chief Justice (CJ) Syed Refaat Ahmed paid glowing tributes to the martyrs by laying wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar this morning.
Leaders of Bangladesh Democratic Student Council, along with other social and cultural organisations, also paid their respects at the memorial today.

The day is marked as a public holiday, with numerous events and activities organised by the interim government at the national level.
