Human chain held in Ctg to raise awareness against drug use

A human chain was organised in Chattogram with the aim of raising public awareness and demanding strict action against drug users and dealers.
The event was jointly organised on Friday (4 July) by the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) Chattogram, Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation, and local residents in the courtyard of Khulapara Jame Mosque, located under Chandgaon Police Station.
Speakers at the event included Engineer Muhammad Nasir Uddin, chairman of Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation and private prison inspector at Chattogram Central Jail; Humayun Kabir, director of the DNC Chattogram; SI Mohammad Suman Mia of Chandgaon Police Station; former councilor Mahbubul Alam; councilor candidate Raisur Rahman Titu; and others.
Humayun Kabir, director of DNC Chattogram, said, "We must fight drugs through community unity.
He recommended preparing lists of offenders and submitting them to law enforcement and building anti-drug organisations that are entirely non-political.
Engineer Muhammad Nasir Uddin said, "From today, we are declaring Khulapara drug-free.
He also said identified offenders will be handed over to law enforcement.
"The Alhaj Shamsul Haque Foundation will always support those willing to quit drugs. No drug dealer will be sheltered or supported."
Former councilor Mahbubul Alam said, "I have always taken action against drugs. Today's initiative aims to ensure that the youth are not drawn into addiction."
