Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today (10 March) voiced a warning of stern action against criminals saying no criminals involved in mob violence, rape, mugging and other offensive activities, would be spared.

"Those who are creating a mob situation in an organised manner, committing rape, theft, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, and deteriorating law and order situation, will be exposed to justice. No one will be given any exemption," he said.

Jahangir said his inspection intends to see whether the police stations were functioning properly during the holy month of Ramadan.

He asked the law enforcement agencies to be more active, vigilant and alert in performing their duties as the government was determined to maintain law and order during Ramadan.

Several hundred checkpoints/checkposts have been set up and the number of patrols has increased in crime-prone areas in the capital city to maintain law and order situation, he said.

Officials at various levels of the Home Ministry have also been assigned regular duty to monitor the security situation round the clock, he added.

During his inspection, the adviser visited reception room, detention center and ancillary facilities of the four police stations.

He also witnessed several checkposts/checkpoints set up at various important intersections of the capital.

The home adviser, as well, monitored the activities of several patrol teams of the joint forces.

During his visit, Jahangir also spoke to security personnel on duty and gave them the necessary instructions to ensure safety and security of the city dwellers and maintain law and order.
