High interest rates, corruption major hurdles for businesses: Commerce adviser
He urged businesspeople to report any allegations of corruption in government ministries, assuring that such complaints would be taken seriously and addressed properly.

High bank interest rates remain one of the major obstacles to doing business in Bangladesh, Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin said on Thursday (16 October).
"I hope lending rates are likely to decrease early next year, easing pressure on the private sector," he said while unveiling the Bangladesh Business Climate Index 2024-25 at the MCCI office in Gulshan, Dhaka.
The adviser also highlighted corruption as another major challenge for entrepreneurs.
"Corruption is one of the main barriers to doing business. It exists everywhere in the world. We may not be able to eliminate it completely, but we can make it much harder through strong monitoring and enforcement," he said.
