Two health ministry officials sent into forced retirement

The government has sent two former top health officials, Professor Dr Shamiul Islam and Professor Dr Md Kamrul Hasan, into forced retirement.
The separate retirement notices stated that both officials had completed 25 years of service. In the public interest, they were sent into compulsory retirement from government service. As per regulations, they will receive retirement benefits.
On Sunday, a notification signed by Mohammad Saiful Islam, joint secretary of the Health Services Division, announced Dr Shamiul Islam's retirement. Earlier, on 6 August, another gazette signed by Joint Secretary Sanjida Sharmin ordered the retirement of Dr Md Kamrul Hasan.
Professor Dr Shamiul Islam had long served in various positions in the health service and education sectors, including Project Director of the Bangamata National Cellular and Molecular Research Centre (BNC MRC), Vice-Principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College, Principal of Mugda Medical College, and Director (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Professor Dr Md Kamrul Hasan recently served as Head of the Surgery Department at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital. He also holds the position of Secretary General of the Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (SWACHIP).
