Patients to get free treatment for heat-related illnesses at Dhaka North's Mohakhali hospital

A dedicated 'Heatstroke Centre' has been launched at the DNCC Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital in Mohakhali under the supervision of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) to provide free medical care for patients suffering from heat-related illnesses.
In response to recurring heatwaves, the 25-bed centre was inaugurated today (12 May) to treat patients affected by heatstroke and similar conditions, reads a press release.
During the inauguration, DNCC's Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury said the bed capacity could be increased if necessary.
He also noted that the hospital's second floor is equipped with ICU facilities for critically ill patients, and arrangements are in place for patient transfers if complications arise.
DNCC currently operates five ambulances, which are available to citizens upon request. Residents can call to avail emergency ambulance services as needed.
Citizens affected by heatstroke can call 999 to obtain detailed information and assistance.
DNCC has also directed its regional executive officers to ensure that mosques remain open for public refuge amid intense heat from 11am to Maghrib prayer, with safety ensured through local mosque committees.
