Measles outbreak: 4 more children die, 1,136 new patients hospitalised in 24 hours
Total number of deaths linked to measles and measles-like syndrome this year has risen to 605
Four more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours between 8am yesterday (3 June) and 8am today (4 June), according to the latest data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths linked to measles and measles-like syndrome this year has risen to 605.
During the same 24 hours, 1,136 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide. Among them, 69 cases were confirmed as measles through laboratory testing.
According to DGHS data, at least 91 children have died from laboratory-confirmed measles infections so far this year. In addition, 498 children have died with symptoms consistent with the disease.
Between 15 March and 4 June, a total of 9,260 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
The latest health bulletin said 75,708 suspected measles cases have been identified nationwide.
Among those patients, 57,043 have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
