Measles death toll reaches 1,009 as 7 more children die
Suspected measles deaths rise to 909, while laboratory-confirmed deaths reach 100.
Bangladesh's measles death toll has reached 1,009 after seven more children died with suspected measles in the 24 hours to 8am today (10 September).
According to the DGHS, 909 deaths have been recorded among suspected measles cases and 100 among laboratory-confirmed cases since 15 March. No new deaths among confirmed cases were reported during the latest 24-hour period.
Dhaka division recorded three of the seven deaths, the highest among the divisions, while Sylhet, Rajshahi, Chattogram and Khulna recorded one each.

A total of 1,165 new suspected measles cases were reported during the period, taking the total to 1,68,745. Another 29 laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 19,933.
Since 15 March, 1,48,505 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, while 1,42,888 have been discharged. In the latest 24 hours, 1,112 patients were admitted and 1,069 discharged.
