Injured student Kajol Mia sent to Thailand for advanced treatment
Critically injured during the mass uprising, Mohammad Kajol Mia has been flown to Thailand's Vejthani Hospital for advanced treatment under the initiative of the interim government.
He departed from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport via air ambulance at 1:30am today (18 November).
Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum was present at the airport to see off Kajol.

Speaking to journalists, she said, "Sending Kajol to Thailand via an air ambulance alone cost Tk64 lakh. Initially, we have allocated Tk10 lakh for his treatment. If additional funds are needed, we will provide them after assessment."
"Another injured individual, currently under treatment at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, is awaiting transfer abroad. We hope to send him tomorrow or the day after. So far, five injured individuals have been sent abroad for treatment, and the process is underway to send 20-25 more. Seven of them, including three with eye injuries and four orthopaedics patients, will be sent to Turkey. Discussions with the Turkish government are ongoing," she added.
"Doctors from France, Nepal, the UK, and other countries have treated the injured. They expressed satisfaction with the treatment provided in Bangladesh. Recently, a medical team from the UK examined 93 injured individuals and performed surgeries on 18 of them," she said.
Also present at the airport were Health Director General Professor Dr Md Abu Jafar and National Institute of Neurosciences Director Professor Dr Din Mohammad.
