Country’s first specialised dental hospital opens in Dhaka
BMU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujibur Rahman Howlader said the hospital would help Bangladesh’s dental sector gain wider recognition internationally.
Bangladesh's first complete specialised dental hospital, Advanced Dental and Maxillofacial (ADM) Hospital, was inaugurated yesterday at a ceremony held at the China-Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
Located in Dhanmondi 2, the hospital will provide round-the-clock services, including indoor and outdoor care and intensive care unit facilities.
It has been established with the coordination of more than 100 doctors and offers services from specialist consultants across all major dental disciplines.
The hospital will provide treatment for a wide range of oral and dental conditions, including oral cancer, tumours, jaw-related surgeries, orthodontics, endodontics and paediatric dentistry.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Shahinul Alam described the initiative as commendable and said a modern, specialised dental hospital would be a significant benefit for patients in the country.
He stressed the importance of infection control and proper accreditation, noting that caution is essential to reduce hospital- acquired infections.

Editor of the Daily Jugantor, Abdul Hye Shikder, said Bangladeshi doctors possess skills comparable to those of practitioners in many developed countries.
Director of the House of the Russian Embassy, Khlevnoy Alexandra Alexandrovna, said Russia would work with ADM Hospital and expressed interest in facilitating training opportunities.
ADM Hospital Managing Director Dr Mostafiz said the goal was toestablish the institution as a global role model in dental care. Vice-Chairman of the hospital and Principal of Sapporo Dental, Dr Nurul Amin, said the hospital's services would be accessible to people from all economic backgrounds.
ADM Hospital Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Dr Golam Mohiuddin Chowdhury said that a collective effort would be required to develop the institution further and highlighted its advanced technological facilities.
At the ceremony, consultants from different departments of the hospital delivered scientific presentations outlining their treatment methods and services.
