In the face of Diarrhoea outbreak in parts of the country, the health directorate has urged people to be more careful of drinking water.

Professor Nazmul Islam, a spokesperson of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), made the call at a press briefing in the capital on Monday.

He asked people to collect water from safe sources for drinking and using in household works, rather than from ponds, canals etc.

The southern part, especially Barishal division, has been hit by a Diarrhoea outbreak recently, with the hospitals struggling with a sudden influx of patients. However, the situation was stable in the last week, said the DGHS official.

He disclosed that the health authorities had taken extensive measures to combat any untoward situation and employed a total of 405 medical teams in the six districts under the Barishal division.

Besides, there are plenty of intravenous fluids, oral saline and water purifying medicine stocked at the upazila health complexes, district sadar hospitals and medical colleges, he added
