Dengue claims 10 lives in a single day, takes death toll to 302
With the latest fatalities, the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease has risen to 302 so far.
The dengue situation in Bangladesh continues to worsen, with 10 more deaths reported in the 24 hours leading up to Wednesday morning (5 November).
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 1,069 new dengue patients were hospitalised during this period, pushing the total number of cases this year to 74,999.
With the latest fatalities, the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease has risen to 302 so far.
Among the new deaths, three occurred at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, two at Labaid Hospital, two at Kurmitola General Hospital, one at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, one at 250 Bed General Hospital, Bhola and one at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
The DGHS report further shows that 61.8% of this year's patients are male, while 38.2% are female. Among the fatalities, 53.2% were men and 46.8% were women.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives, with a total of 101,214 cases and 100,040 recoveries recorded across the country.
