1 dies of dengue, 1 of Covid in 24 hours

Bangladesh reported one death each from dengue and Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till this morning (13 July).
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a 23-year-old woman died of dengue at Kurmitola Medical College Hospital, raising the mosquito-borne disease's death toll this year to 56.
During the same 24-hour period, 420 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
Among the newly hospitalised, 116 were from Barishal division, 79 from Chattogram, 60 from Dhaka division (excluding the capital), 26 from Khulna, 9 from Mymensingh, 45 from Rajshahi, and 3 from Rangpur—indicating the widespread nature of the outbreak beyond major urban centres. In Dhaka city, 25 new cases were reported in the North City Corporation and 57 in the South.
So far this year, 14,880 people have been infected with dengue across the country.
Meanwhile, the DGHS reported one new Covid-19-linked death in the same 24-hour span.
The Covid-19 victim was a man aged between 41 and 50, from Chattogram division, who died while undergoing treatment at a government hospital.
With this, the total number of Covid deaths in Bangladesh has reached 29,526, including 27 recorded so far in 2025. The overall number of confirmed Covid cases in the country now stands at 2,052,220, with 675 cases reported in the current year.
